Place a Specific Shares Order
The Specific Shares feature allows you to specify tax lot shares to trade as part of an order.
You can choose from up to 150 tax lots for a security you hold in your account. You also have the option to manually enter tax lots using the cost basis information from your records.
Please read Stop Orders if you are placing a stop limit or stop loss order.
You can place a specific shares order during any of the market sessions Fidelity offers. Select one of the following for instructions:
- Standard market session* specific shares order
- Premarket session* specific shares order
- After Hours session* specific shares order
* The Standard market session is from 9:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Premarket session is from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. The After Hours session is from 4 to 8 p.m. All sessions are Eastern Standard Time and are available Monday through Friday except market holidays. Standard market session specific shares order
To place a specific shares order:
1. Select Accounts & Trade and then select Trade.
The Trade Stocks Standard Session order entry screen displays. If you want to place an option order and you have an Option Agreement on file with Fidelity, select Trade Options from the table of contents. Otherwise, continue with step 2.
2. Select an account for the trade order.
3. Select and enter the order information.
  Tips:
  Select Quick Balances or Quick Positions to see account balances or positions without exiting the Trade Stocks screen.
  Do not include commas in the amount you enter in the Quantity field.
  Select Lookup Symbol to find a stock trading symbols.
  The trade type field only displays if you have a Margin Agreement on file with Fidelity. When this field displays, Margin is selected. However, you can change the selection to Cash. If this field does not display, the Trade Type for the order is Cash, because Cash is the only applicable option.
4. Make sure you select the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field.
The Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is available when you use an eligible account and select a valid action for the order. Valid actions for stock orders are Sell and Buy to Cover. Valid actions for option orders are Sell to Close and Buy to Close.
If this field is not available, click Preview Order to continue without specifying tax lot shares.
5. Click Continue.
The Specify Shares screen appears with available tax lots preselected, prioritized and sorted. 
6. From the Specify Shares screen, enter the number of shares for the individual tax lots that are displayed in the table.
7. Click Preview Order.  The Trade Stocks Verification page appears. 
8. Review the order and make sure the information is correct and do one of the following:
- If correct, click Place Order.
- If not, click Void to return to the order entry screen without placing the order.
9. After you place the order, you receive a confirmation. You will see the order confirmation number and order information including the tax lot shares you specified.
Fidelity does not validate tax lot shares with a Cost Basis Source of Customer and tax lot shares you manually enter. Ultimately it is your responsibility to maintain accurate tax lot records.
The tax lot specific share information is also printed on the confirmation you receive via U.S. mail or included in the confirmation you receive under Accounts & Trade > Statements* after an order executes.
* Confirmations are delivered online after you sign up for the Electronic Confirmation Program.
  Tip: From your browser's File menu, select Print to print the confirmation.

Premarket session sell specific shares order
To place a specific shares order:
1. Select Accounts & Trade and then select Trade.
2. From the table of contents, select Trade Extended Hours. The Premarket Place Stock Orders screen displays.
The Premarket Place Stock Orders screen displays if it is between 7:30 and 9:15 a.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday except market holidays.
3. Select an account for the trade order.
4. Select and enter the order information.
  Tips:
  You cannot change the Order Price Type.
  Enter a symbol in the Extended Hours Quote box to get a real-time quote* from the ECN.
  * This quote will be the best real-time quote for a stock eligible for trading during the After Hours session from the ECN in which Fidelity participates. After Hours quotes obtained from Fidelity.com will only reflect the prices available in the ECN, linked ECNs, and Nasdaq's SelectNet, when available.
  Select Order Book, and then enter a symbol in the Order Book Symbol box to get an expanded view of the extended hours market. The Order Book quote provides a list of the current best ten matching ask and bid orders for the security.
  The Time-in-force can be either Day or Immediate or Cancel.
  There is no minimum number of shares and the maximum quantity is 5000 shares.
  For immediate or cancel orders, the minimum quantity is 200 shares.
  The trade type field only displays if you have a Margin Agreement on file with Fidelity. When this field displays, Margin is selected. However, you can change the selection to Cash. If this field does not display, the Trade Type for the order is Cash, because Cash is the only applicable option.
5. Make sure you select the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field.
The Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is available when you use an eligible account and select a valid action for the order. Valid actions for stock orders are Sell and Buy to Cover. If this field is not available, click Preview Order to continue without specifying tax lot shares.
6. Click Continue to display the Trade Stocks screen.
7. Select how you want to sort and view your shares by selecting a Primary Sort by Term and a Secondary Sort by Cost.
Once your sort selection has been made, Fidelity will pre-fill certain fields on the Specify Shares page to help expidite your order.  You will have the option to change the selected shares before sending the order to Fidelity. 
8. Click Continue.
The Specify Shares screen appears with available tax lots preselected, prioritized and sorted. 
9. From the Specify Shares screen, enter the number of shares for the individual tax lots that are displayed in the table.
10. Click Preview Order.  The Trade Stocks Verification page appears. 
11. Review the order and make sure the information is correct and do one of the following:
- If correct, click Place Order.
- If not, click Void to return to the order entry screen without placing the order.
12. After you place the order, you receive a confirmation. You will see the order confirmation number and order information including the tax lot shares you specified.
Fidelity does not validate tax lot shares with a Cost Basis Source of Customer and tax lot shares you manually enter. Ultimately it is your responsibility to maintain accurate tax lot records.
The tax lot specific share information is also printed on the confirmation you receive via U.S. mail or included in the confirmation you receive under Accounts & Trade > Statements* after an order executes.

During the Premarket session, only those participating ECNs with links to the ECN and participating market makers will be accessible for order execution.
Premarket Session Hours
ECN orders for the Premarket session can be placed from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. Eastern Time. ECN orders can only be displayed and executed after 8 a.m. Eastern Time. REDIBook is the primary destination for Premarket orders. From 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time, orders are queued at Fidelity. At 8 a.m., Fidelity transmits orders to the ECN and the transmitted orders are queued at REDIBook according to the time received and the specified limit price.
After 8 a.m., Fidelity continues to send orders to the ECN in the order in which Fidelity receives them until 9:15 a.m. unless trading is halted prior to 9:15 a.m.
In the event that REDIBook is unavailable at the regular time for the Premarket session, orders may be queued at Fidelity in the order in which they are received to be submitted to another eligible ECN to which Fidelity is linked.

After Hours session specific shares order
To place a specific shares order:
1. Select Accounts & Trade and then select Trade.
2. From the table of contents, select Trade Extended Hours. The After Hours Place Stock Orders screen displays.
The After Hours Place Stock Orders screen displays if it is between 4 and 8 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday except for market holidays.
3. Select an account for the trade order.
4. Select and enter the order information.
  Tips:
  You cannot change the Order Price Type.
  Enter a symbol in the Extended Hours Quote box to get a real-time quote* from the ECN.
  * This quote will be the best real-time quote for a stock eligible for trading during the After Hours session from the ECN in which Fidelity participates. After Hours quotes obtained from Fidelity.com will only reflect the prices available in the ECN, linked ECNs, and Nasdaq's SelectNet, when available.
  Select Order Book, and then enter a symbol in the Order Book Symbol box to get an expanded view of the extended hours market. The Order Book quote provides a list of the current best ten matching ask and bid orders for the security.

5. Make sure to select the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field. After the field is selected, you will see the Continue button instead of the Preview Order button at the bottom of the screen.
The Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is available when you use an eligible account and select a valid action for the order. Valid actions for stock orders are Sell and Buy to Cover. If the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is not available, click Preview Order to continue without specifying tax lot shares.
6. Click Continue to display the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares screen.
7. Choose lots from those listed under Specify Lots by entering a priority number. Then, enter the number of shares to trade from each lot. Optionally, you can manually enter up to three lots for lots that are held in your account, but are not listed. The priority can be from 1 to 13, depending on the number of tax lots you choose and enter.
Note that each priority number can only be used once across all lots in both the Specify Lots and Enter Lots sections of the screen. For example, you can have a lot with the priority 1 under only one of the Specify Lots or Enter Lots sections, but not both.
8. After you specify all tax lot shares, look at the Review Lot Selection section of the screen. The total number of specified tax lot shares cannot be greater than the total number of shares for the order.
If you specify fewer shares than the total for the order, the remaining shares will be traded using the First in/First out (FIFO) accounting method. If you leave the order as is and continue, you see a warning. You have the option to continue and ignore the warning.
If you specified more tax lot shares than the total for the order, the order cannot be processed. Review and adjust the number of specified tax lot shares until the total specified shares is not more than the total for the order.
9. Click Preview Order to continue. Or, click Void to return to the order entry screen and start over.
10. Review the order and make sure the information is correct and do one of the following:
- If correct, click Place Order
- If not, click Void to return to the order entry screen without placing the order
11. After you place the order, you receive a confirmation. You will see the order confirmation number and order information including the tax lot shares you specified.

After Hours Session Hours
ECN orders in the After Hours session can be placed from 4 to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Between 4 and 8 p.m., Fidelity transmits orders to the ECN and the transmitted orders are available for immediate display and execution according to the time received and the specified limit price,unless trading is halted prior to 8 p.m.
After 4 p.m., Fidelity continues to send orders to the ECN in the order in which Fidelity receives them until 8 p.m. Eastern Time unless trading is halted prior to 8 p.m.
In the event that an ECN becomes unavailable during the extended hours session, Fidelity may submit orders to another eligible and available ECN to maintain order flow. Thus, your order may be presented in any one of several eligible ECNs.
