How is Profit/Loss calculated on the Year to Date Sales page?

Profit or loss is calculated when you sell (or close) a position in your account. The profit or loss is based on the proceeds you received when the security was sold, less the cost of the shares. If you sell (or exchange) a portion of your shares, the cost is based on a first in, first out order. In other words, the first shares you acquired will be the first shares sold. For re-investments, the cost will be counted as $0.00 when calculating profit or loss.
